My husband Vito and I have recently celebrated our 50th anniversary. My husband is approaching his 80th birthday- for many a time of reflection and introspection, as it is for him.My husband has been writing poetry his whole adult life, putting into verse his dreams, his emotions and impressions, the essence of his soul. The original idea for this book was for him to leave behind something that his children and grandchildren could actually read- hence the English version. They had always known that he writes Italian poetry, but for them it was always an abstract concept with no real context. They never had the opportunity to get to know their Father and Grandfather through his writing. Whispers of the Heart has since evolved into his personal opus. A compelling treasure revealing his poet's heart, with all the love, passion, romance and nostalgia which he never puts on display in his personal life. This book is a reflection of a man who is mostly unknown, even to those closest to him. I was honored to help with the English translation-the punctuation, grammar and spelling are mine-the emotion and beauty of his poetry are strictly his.
