The third life of the grandparents

The book "THE THIRD LIFE OF GRANDPARENTS" opens up to the reader a world known by many Italian families and throughout the civilized world, that is, that relating to retirement homes or RSAs for non-self-sufficient people who often move around in wheelchairs. There are aspects of the daily life of grandparents who experience this part of their third life with difficulty, of the relationship of trust that is created with the doctors who treat them, together with their collaborators, nurses, OSS and OSA operators, and physiotherapists. As always, the relatives who choose the structure in which to transfer them are fundamental so that the grandparents, who have mostly left hospital for treatment or surgery, recover a physical and mental condition that can allow them to return home or at least be able to be transferred to a retirement home for self-sufficient people, where they can live a life as close to normal as possible. Furthermore
the affection and visits of family members are also fundamental, together with medical therapies and the assistance of operators in physical and mental recovery. It reflects Italian society, as mainly women are present in these structures, who live longer than men , but foreigners are also starting to be present, a sign that Italian society is increasingly international and multiracial.
